Why your kids will love it
Fun: Our music camps in Northeast Portland are not just about music education but also group bonding, creating together, and playing outside!
Music: We make music every day in various ensembles and create our own musical movie, which we present to parents and friends on the final day.
We focus on the joy of making music, the fundamentals that create it, instrument exploration, performance/jams, ear-training, mic-technique, and more.
Slime Time: Once or twice each day campers make slime together. It’s a time of creativity, bonding, relaxation, and laughing as a group.
Create a movie and present it at a party: Campers make an iMovie of their musical, which they present to their families on the last day. The families and teachers gather round to watch the work the kids have done and enjoy cookies and treats afterwards.
Outdoor time: Every day we spend 1-2 hours outside where kids have free choice to play however they want. Whether it’s playing card games on the picnic blanket, playing tag, climbing on the playground or in trees (supervised!), or engaging in a proper game of soccer, we guarantee our campers will make the most of their time outside with us.
No music experience is necessary. Ages 5+.

We know what kids love and add much more than just music to each camp: acting games, outdoor play, story time, etc.
We write up daily assessments for each camper. Assessments include detailed information on group and individual activities, camper strengths, and challenges. We also give our campers certificates at the end of camp to celebrate their achievements!
We allow our campers to choose what songs they want to learn and perform, and what instruments they’d like to focus on.
We use kid-friendly notation and our ears to learn music. Our methods ease kids into music education in an immediate, adaptable, self-directed, and enjoyable way.
Our teen volunteers function as a hybrid mentor/teacher/friend and delight the campers.
We limit the size of our camps so that everyone gets individualized attention from the teachers.
Wanted: Teen volunteers to help, flexible hours. Receive a letter of recommendation from the director and use these hours towards any community service projects that you’re working on. Ages 12+
Responsibilities include: managing small groups of children ages 5-10 with supervision, leading group games, trips to the bathroom, giving out snacks, helping with iMovie, singing with group vocal warm ups, and being a role model when it comes to listening and participating.

Music Camp Details
Monday-Friday 9am-3:30pm.
Before care: 8-9am
After care: 3:30-4:30pm
Cost
$330/camper by 4/1, $350 thereafter.
One snack included (usually popcorn).
A non-refundable deposit of $80/camper due upon sign up.
$25/1hr for before/aftercare.

My kids LOVED music camp! They were excited to try so many new instruments, and slime was definitely a highlight of the week. I was thrilled to see their growth as musicians--namely they gained confidence to perform, and they did all kinds of cool things they hadn't been able to do in lessons, such as songwriting and jamming with a band of friends. Safety at KTL Camp
We take our camper’s safety seriously. We do background checks and thorough vetting of our instructors. We know where they are at all times, we treat any cuts or owies with our first aid kit, and we make sure they get plenty of water, shade, food, and bathroom time. We keep track of allergies and we make sure they wear hats and put on sunscreen. We give kids time to rest if they need it and we use the buddy system while walking in the community.
Camper profile
Our camps tend to be frequented by kids ages 5-11 and we've noticed that often a pair of friends will attend together. Kids that love to make up their own songs, that love to be silly in their storytelling, and that appreciate freedom to do as they please will love KTL camp. Children aged 4 can join if they have a sibling.
