Rates for Lessons and Music Classes

Lessons

First 30-min private lesson is free.

Lessons are prepaid the last week of the preceding month. Usually on the 25th.

Autopay is mandatory. Invoices are emailed mid-month for any updates.

Lessons are weekly. We don’t offer every other week.

Currently we don’t offer in-home lessons.

Joint Lessons: Minimum 45 minutes, +$12 per additional student is added to the rate. This is only for students of the same age/level of experience and not suited for students several years apart. The one exception is for parent/child lessons.

Annual Administrative Fee

We charge our Annual Admin Fee in September and prorate it according to the schedule below. Returning families are offered a $20 early-bird discount by paying for the year in July ($90 instead of $110).

Discounts

  • Multi-student discount: 5% off the monthly bill if 2+ are enrolled from the same family.

  • Referral: $10 discount applied to your invoice for referring a family that enrolls for a minimum of one month.

  • Quarterly Payments: 5% Discount.

Make-Up Policy. Read This!

  • Cancellation with less than 24-hours notice: Charges will apply and makeups are not accepted.

  • Email the Admin AND your teacher if you need to cancel. Y​ou can also call our reception line and they’ll notify the teacher, 503-470-1490.

  • Sickness: If your child is sick and stays home from school, for everyone’s safety, cancel the lesson.

  • Planned absences: With our Admin’s help, try to lengthen your lessons: two 45-minute lessons to make up a 30-minute lesson. If that doesn’t work, please try to reschedule. Last resort, use one of three credits/year. Your membership fee helps make these options possible.

  • Teacher cancellations: We will arrange a substitute KTL teacher or schedule a makeup lesson with your teacher. We do our best to minimize teacher absences.

  • Seeds of Harmony: We don’t offer make-ups or credits for absences.

Classes

  • Seeds of Harmony is offered at $99/month which includes weekly 45 minute classes and At-home practice materials in a fun, Duolingo style. A minimum of 3 children per class is required.

  • Please note that while there is a free trial class we don’t add the multi-family discount and we don’t offer make-ups or credits for absences; however, we do offer regular discounts on the class so be sure to ask about our current offer.

  • If a family has a student in Seeds and another taking private lessons the one taking private lessons will have the multi-family discount applied to their fees.


  • UpStartRock Elite Performance Program: ON HIATUS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    -3 student band @ 60 min: $ 39/class ($156 per 4-week month)

    -4 student band @ 60 min: $35/class ($140 per 4-week month)

    -4 student band @ 90 min: $52.50/class ($210 per 4-week month)


    **We can't apply multi-family member discounts to these classes.

    **All students are required to take private lessons at KTL to be part of UpStartRock.

Standards & Expectations

  • Weekly attendance during the school year.

  • Perform at biannual formal or mini recitals. Students who perform have better results than those who don’t.

  • Practice a minimum of 3-5 days/week. Ideally 7 days.

  • Purchase books that your teacher recommends and bring them to every lesson.

  • If extra support is needed with practicing, motivation, or any issue at all, reach out to the Director.

  • Photos from recitals are used in KTL promotion. Parents are asked to sign an e-form during enrollment giving us permission to use pictures of their children. Parents can opt out by requesting a form from our Admin.

Calendar

  • KTL generally follows the PPS school calendar. We are not closed for in-service days.

  • Holidays: KTL is closed for Memorial Day, Labor Day, MLK day, July 4th, Winter and Spring Break.

  • Inclement weather: We email our plan to parents by noon and stay open if the roads are decent.

  • Summer: Summer hours are based on teacher/student vacation schedules.
